The problem
Most systems hold one quantity and one price per medicine. That cannot answer the two questions a pharmacy actually has: which of these units expires first, and what did the units I just sold actually cost me?

Every batch is its own record
A delivery creates a batch carrying its own purchase price, expiry date, supplier and invoice number. Two deliveries of the same medicine at different prices stay distinguishable, because they are different rows.

Cost is re-blended on receipt
The medicine’s weighted average cost is recalculated across everything on hand — (existing units × existing cost + new units × new cost) ÷ total units — and the selling price follows the configured margin. The batch keeps its own cost for valuation; the average drives pricing.

Stock states are derived, never stored
Out of stock, low stock, near expiry and expired are computed from the data every time they are read. A stored flag goes stale the moment a sale happens; a derived one cannot.

Receiving posts to the ledger
A receipt raises the inventory asset and the supplier payable in the same database transaction. Stock cannot arrive without the liability that paid for it.

Signed-in users reach this module at /dashboard/inventory. Access depends on the role your System Administrator assigned — permissions are checked on every request, so a role that cannot use a module cannot reach it by URL either. The roles are listed on the about page.
